The Beringer Estate Zinfandel from the Classic range is a Cabernet Sauvignon from the relatively cool vineyards of Beringer Estate in Napa Valley. In the glass, this Zinfandel is dark ruby red. It is a lively wine with notes of ripe fruit and spices such as cloves and nutmeg. Soft tannins and a nice round finish. Perfect in combination with chicken and pork dishes with challenging flavours. Did you know that the Zinfandel in Italy is called Primitivo grape. Certainly nice to place the zinfandel next to a primitivo in a home tasting and then taste it blind.
