Answer (1 of 5): I think cup volume is not proportionate from D cup in any band size. Normally cup size is function of band size, which is over ruled from D cup onwards. So to indicate the very fact D, DD and DDD sizes are introduced, where cup volume will be not exactly increased by 1 inch more
