Although traditional showgirls were a highly regarded art form, the showgirls of today don’t enjoy the same level of protection or respect. Their stages — Fremont Street and Strip sidewalks — can be dangerous. Tourists often tell them to “get a real job.” But many showgirls see themselves as skilled business women who choose this work — and make a lot of money doing it.
