Scout Basset lost her right leg in a fire while she was just an infant living in China, years before she was adopted from a government-run orphanage and brought to the United States at seven years old. But even while growing up in a family who provided her all that she needed to overcome the adversity she was facing with her disability, Basset found herself on the sidelines of all of the sports that she dreamed of participating in.
